Seborrheic Keratoses

Treatment: Often no treatment is needed unless it is irritated or itchy

Cost for cosmetic removal:

  • Cryotherapy (freezing) $190 for up to 10 seborrheic keratoses
  • Electrocautery (burning) $190 for up to 10 seborrheic keratoses

Melanocytic Nevi (Moles)

Treatment:

  • Typically, no treatment is needed.
  • If changes in size, shape, color, or elevation occur, a biopsy may be recommended to rule out melanoma.
  • Moles can be removed for cosmetic reasons or if they are repeatedly irritated.
  • Cost for Cosmetic removal $342 per mole

Epidermal Cysts

Treatment:

  • If not bothersome, they can be left alone.
  • If inflamed or painful, they can be injected with steroid or surgically removed. Surgical removal may sometimes be covered by insurance.
  • Cosmetic surgical removal is $575

Dermatofibromas

Treatment:

  • Usually, no treatment is required.
  • I will not perform cosmetic removal of dermatofibroma as they tend to heal poorly and the resulting scar is often worse than the original lesion.

Lipomas

Treatment:

  • Typically, no treatment is needed.
  • If they are painful or enlarging, they can be removed surgically.
  • Cosmetic surgical removal is $750

Skin Tags (Acrochordons)

Treatment:

  • Often no treatment is necessary.
  • If bothersome, they can be removed by:
    • Cryotherapy
    • Snipping
    • Electrocautery

Cherry Angiomas

Treatment:

  • Usually, no treatment is needed.
  • Can be removed for cosmetic reasons via:
    • Electrocautery $190 up to 10 lesions
    • Laser therapy

Pyogenic Granulomas

Treatment:

  • Shave removal and cauterization

Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Treatment:

  • Often, no treatment is required
  • Can be treated for cosmetic reasons via:
    • Electrocautery $190 up to 10 lesions
    • Chemical peels $190 per peel (multiple peels often needed)

Basal Cell Carcinoma

Treatment:

  • Several options depending on the size, location, and type of BCC:
      • Surgical excision
      • Mohs micrographic surgery
      • Curettage and electrodessication (for superficial BCCs)

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Treatment:

  • Similar to BCC, treatment options depend on the size, location, and type of SCC:
      • Surgical excision
      • Mohs micrographic surgery
      • Curettage and electrodessication

Melanoma

Treatment:

  • The primary treatment is surgical excision.
  • Depending on the stage, additional treatments may include:
    • Sentinel lymph node biopsy
    • Immunotherapy
    • Targeted therapy
    • Radiation therapy
    • Chemotherapy
